Ashley Owens joined the Felician coaching staff as a volunteer assistant during the 2018-19 academic year directly off of a successful four-year pitching career for the Golden Falcons. The following season, she was retained and elevated to pitching coach by first-year head coach Herb Melendez. She became a permanent, paid staff member in May 2021.
The right-handed Owens logged a record 661 2/3 innings in the pitching circle for Felician, more than 250 more than anyone else in program history. She holds Golden Falcon career records for appearances (127), complete games (66), wins (47) and strikeouts (374) as well, and shares the mark for all-time shutouts (8). Owens hit .293 in 82 collegiate at-bats, including four doubles and two home runs.
Owens was twice elected to the All-Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Second team. As a sophomore in 2016, she also earned CACC All-Tournament and All-Academic honors. She is a 2018 inductee into the Chi Alpha Sigma College Athlete Honor Society.
A native of Lockport, N.Y., Owens was a 2014 Niagara Gazette All-Area selection for Starpoint High School. She completed a B.S. in management from Felician in 2018 and was employed as a graduate assistant in the Golden Falcons' athletics department while she pursued an MBA, conferred in 2020.
